I am always surprised when we top another hill and I look around and the ocean is just right over there. You feel like you should be way inland, but no.
So close to Italy, Austria and Slovenia, what a great section of Croatia.
Next time we will again stay in one of the little mountain towns, perhaps Hum, and spend time going from Konoba to Konoba to eat.
PRACTICAL TRAVEL TIPS FOR CROATIA:
Here are transportation links that are useful for getting around Croatia and the islands:
AUTOTRANS AutoTrans Busses service all of Croatia, even some of the small local runs. You can also get a bus from Croatia out of Croatia (Though you should also do a general search if you are looking to go from say Split to Munich. You have several bus line options.) You get a 5% discount on ticket price by booking through the website and it is easy to use.
FERRY LISTINGS This lists all the ferries and schedule to and from any of the islands. Then you can just go direct to the ferry line web site and buy tickets or check the schedule. Good for giving you all the available options.
LOCAL ISLAND BUS LINES If you do not have a car, you will need to use taxis or the island shuttle buses. Here is bus information and some schedules. For instance, I pulled up the Rab bus schedule, took a screen shot on my iPhone, and thus had it any time I needed it. Also locations of bus stops - very useful as we found that (surprisingly) a lot of locals did not know where the bus stops were. You will notice you can follow the link backwards and also see mainland Croatia.
