We took a little trip up to the next town up the coast: Poreč.
Just because it is there and we haven't been there. Plus, it is raining today, so the beach is out. Why not take a road trip?
It is only 14 kilometers north of Rovinj, but it's about thirty minutes to drive to Poreč, because you have to go inland, then back out to the coast, to get around a huge inlet of water.
We wound our way through little villages on small, one lane roads, just to see what is there.
Whole pigs roasting on spits over an open fire is what is big here. I was hungry just driving, but they were not done and we are heading north for truffles.
Poreč is a cute little version of Rovinj; not as many old buildings, not as nice of a harbor walk, not quite as scenic. It is a lot more quiet, and we heard zero English, but a lot of German spoken.
We took less than an hour to walk the town. I suppose you could spend a day or two here, but for us, it was just a nice stop along the way.
