So we went in to the patisserie for croissant and coffee, which tasted so good on a cold morning.
As we drove in the heavy fog, it made the churches appear spooky, steeples rising mysteriously in the haze. It started to rain and kept up as a steady drizzle.
We took a 30KM detour to visit Rochefort en Terre. It is a “Beautiful Village Of France” and a designated “Flower City.”
OK. So it is a cute, stone built, old town. We walked through it in the drizzle, and took time for lunch at Restaurant Les Ardoisières. Once again we had the chicken with ham, cheese and cream sauce. It was the plat du jour, and we thought this one was better than the last.
We could have stayed in the warm restaurant and lingered, perhaps spent an entire sunny day wasting time here, but we had to catch the 16:45 ferry at Fouras to our next destination.
Three days on a little island, Ile d’Aix.
Bet you haven’t heard of that!
