Well, this is a hassle. Woke up sick again this morning, worse this time than last.
So I got up and walked about a kilometer to the pharmacy for some imodium. I think this might be because I forgot and brushed my teeth with the tap water, but who knows? Could be a relapse.
I never get sick traveling, yet here it is, twice in a week now.
The riad serves a big breakfast, but I didn’t eat any of it today.
We decided to get out of the crowded confines of the old city, so Gail and I walked out the Ziad Gate and got a taxi to Borj Fes, and Avenue Hassan II.
Hassan II is one of the old rulers of Morocco. This Avenue has two lanes each direction, with a green park down the middle; fountains and lion statues finish off the ends. It goes for maybe two kilometers, and is lined by banks and government buildings and a few shops. It was just a nice place to take a walk on a warm day, without the constant hassle from the “guides” inside the medina.
The Fes Borj is a three story, indoor shopping mall; modern stores full of every fashion you might wear under your robes. All the fast food places in the city are right here as well.
We walked and looked, but I was getting kind of worn out from not eating or drinking.
We caught a cab back to our gate, and I ended up sleeping the afternoon away.
We took a late evening stroll through the alleys, but then came back and after a cup of mint tea, I was out.
Not a great day.
