Eighty degrees and sunny, clear fall air, a couple hours to kill.
So we decided to just take a drive on one of our favorite mountain roads.
The Shingletown to Whitmore Road, officially named Ponderosa Way, is not long, but it is just the right amount of winding, hilly, no-traffic, narrow lane road to be fun on a warm morning.
Top down, music playing, we just cruised slowly along, smelling the trees, pausing on the bridges to listen to the creeks below, and feeling the warm sun on our shoulders. We passed three trucks, saw more cows than people, and feasted on the long views to Mt. Shasta and the short views into the park-like, fir and pine forests.
Just two hours, zooming along...
