The first is "Graced With Light," at Grace Cathedral. Artist In Residence, Anne Patterson, hung over twenty miles of red, blue, green and white ribbons from the ceiling of the cathedral. Many of the ribbons have prayers, wishes and dreams written on them, and the visual effect is like walking right into a stained glass window. The exhibit was supposed to come down a year ago, but has proven so popular that it was extended until sometime in February, 2014.
The lights are controlled by a computer, and the constantly changing patterns are not supposed to repeat. The 1.8 miles of lights were installed in March, 2013 and will run through March 2015, though the project is seeking funding to make the display permanent. The cost of electricity to light the bridge is $30 a day.
