Here is what I have for our current trip to La Paz, Mexico.
We have never been to Cabo, or La Paz. I got interested after a friend of mine, Aura, went there last winter. So the first step was to pump her for information during lunch one day.
I figured out our time frame, got the tickets, then got a line on a small, six room guest house from TripAdvisor. (See my post, Mexico Plans, linked below)
I read through the TripAdvisor restaurant and attraction reviews, and also got on Lonely Planet and read the overview (see link below).
I did another search for descriptions of the beaches around La Paz, and also information about Todos Santos and Cabo.
Then I got on google maps and did a screen capture of a map of the southern part of the Baja Peninsula, as well as maps of the driving route to the guest house.
I compiled all this information into a few separate documents, then edited it down.
I made up a few PDF documents out of the information: restaurants (1 page) directions to guesthouse (2 pages) beaches (1 page) rental car and flight information (3 pages) and things to do & see (6 pages). These PDFs are loaded onto my iPod, so I can read them using iBooks. We may do none of the things, visit only some of the beaches and go to only one restaurant, but the point is we have ideas of what is there. I also have maps in case I cannot get on the GoogleMaps app.
Total time: about four hours
