This brings up a good point about how we travel. It us important to us to be able to move easily, to travel lightly so we can go to smaller, out of the way places, the kind of places you have to walk into town and wander around finding a room, a room which us probably going to be small by American standards. We also like to blend in as much as possible.
Well, this trip, Iceland is just one week of eight. We know we will be in the heat of Paris in late July, hiking the mountains in the early August warmth in Switzerland, walking the streets of London in mid-June. It is impossible to bring everything we need for every situation. So, we improvise, adapt, endure a little heat or cold, and just make due. We don't even have a cell phone.
*GASP* I know.
I have cold weather, mountaineering and beach crap. But I am not going to carry two or three suitcases... if I wanted all that stuff, I would be at home.
There is something freeing in living for a month or two on 20 pounds or less of stuff.
The payoff is long trips in unique places, and no hassle moving around.
